Well the happenings and events for the month of June didn't happen in
the way we had planned because Lorna got sick and had to
spend three days in Newton Memorial Hospital. She was diagnosed with
Mono
(Glandular Fever) in the ER room, and then admitted to the hospital in
the early hours of
the morning with a low blood platelet count. The care was excellent and
nothing seemed to be missed by
the team of three wonderful lady doctors: One for infectious diseases,
another for hematology; the third being the hospital internist. After
numerous bloodtests, an EKG and three days of IV fluids, the only
prescription on discharge was
some
vitamins and plenty of rest.
We had to cancel our trip to Ohio for the Gravestone Studies
Summer Conference, which we were pretty disappointed about, but we are
already planning to go
next year, when the Conference will convene in Maine.
Despite all this, Lorna did manage to coordinate the
archery sessions we run each year through the church, with friends
stepping up to provide registration, parking control, and craft and
food tables to supplement the shooting. The first
session was on the last day of June. It was a beautiful evening and
great photos taken by friends Wayne and Sherry can be viewed by taking
